Sonnets of our Youth

The best songs usually come when you're not looking for them. For example, when you're working on another song, something completely different. Something that seems like it could turn into a cool idea but it's something that no matter how hard you try you're just not getting anything good out of it (and possibly start questioning your entire musical credibility. Maybe). Something that you get so tired of working on that you decide to take a break from working on to just mess around on the piano for a little bit........ and BOOM! Insert random new song that completely takes over and you don't even know what you were working on before. Delete old idea, focus on new one. That ever happen with you? It's the beautiful part and the frustrating part of songwriting. To quote Forrest Gump: "Life is like a box of chocolates.... you never know which ones you're going to nibble on for a little bit then throw away and decide you like the square ones more than the round ones." (That may not be an exact quote).

So here we are with a new song... "Sonnets of our Youth," which is the most likely candidate for the title of the whole EP. I'll do a new blog post later on this week or next week with another update and maybe a snippet and some lyrics from some of our recording of it. For now I've gotta get back to a mixing session I'm in for a latin merengue track that I'm producing for another local artist named Nio Amesty. (Fun Fact: when I'm not writing pop/rock tunes I'm producing latin merengue electronic fusion tracks, story of my life. #TheManOfManyHats )

Stay tuned here at intakemusic.com for more updates and thanks again for taking the time to read my little blog. A.K.A. The only guy in the band not pictured above because, well, SOMEONE had to take the picture.

P.S. In case you haven't heard the new Hello Shannon EP, go check it out!!! It was produced by myself and Intake guitarist, Jesse Rodriguez. It also features Intake bass player, Jonny Martin adding some bass parts. Check it out at www.helloshannonmusic.com
